Welcome

We’re so glad you’ve joined us on this third Sunday in the season of Lent. God calls all who are thirsty to come to Him. Our prayer is that as we worship together, we will be refreshed with Jesus, the Living Water.

If you have children then let us serve them through our babysitting service (nursery), Children in Worship (CIW) and Little Lambs (LL). Nursery is available in the lobby for ages 0-2. Directions regarding CIW & LL kids for children ages 3 (as of March 2019) through Kindergarten will be provided during morning worship.

Noise reducing headphones are now available to borrow during the morning service at the nursery counter. If your child lives with sensory input concerns, please feel free to use them.

We offer a sensory-friendly worship area for morning services, available in the Music Room (at the end of the hallway past the offices).

Hearing Loop Headsets are available for those who are hard of hearing. Please stop by the sound booth at the back of the sanctuary to receive a headset.

CRC Weekly and Requested Community Announcements pages are available in the rack on the bulletin kiosk.

Prayer Requests for March 24-30

  • LOIS OPPENHUIZEN (FG #5) was scheduled for surgery last Thursday to remove her endometrial cancer. Pray for good results and complete healing.

  • KAREN GREVENGOED (FG #6) is recovering well at home following her recent ankle surgery.

  • We express our sincere Christian sympathy to MARK & LaDAWN VENEMA (FG #10) and their family in the death of LaDawn’s father, Leo Penner, on Monday night. The Venemas travelled to Winnipeg last week for the memorial service. Pray for them as they mourn their loss, even as they celebrate that their father and grandfather is now face to face with his Savior.

  • With gratitude to God for his leading, we are pleased to announce that we have hired Eric Scholtens as our Director of Worship and Community Life. Eric will begin his work on April 8, with his first Sunday planning and leading worship being Easter Sunday. We thank God for Eric and his family.

  • THANK YOU FROM THE CADETS! This year we had our largest fertilizer sale, selling over 800 bags and sales over $16,000. Thank you, Fairway, for your generous support!

News & Notes

Notes From Council

At the Congregational Meeting last Sunday, March 17, the following members were selected to serve a 3-year term starting in April of 2019:

·         Administrative Elder: Ron Buit

·         Pastoral Elder: Dan Baker, Jim DeJonge, Ken Schaaf, John Wilks

·         Pastoral Deacon: Judy Dykema, Linda Miedema, Nate VanderWal, Derek Wykstra

As we discern God's will for our church, Council has decided to open the offices of Elder and Pastor to women at this time. With this decision, we invite you to pray for unity in our church. Just as Christ prayed for oneness with God and among believers, in John 17, we welcome prayer for each member of our community to remain focused on our mission to seek and grow disciples. No matter how each of us may receive this news, may we remain a community committed to spreading unto the world the grace and peace of the Christ whose gospel has transformed each of our lives.

Weekly Faith Formation Tip

LENT FAMILY FAITH FORMATION TIP - As another exercise in self-examination, read Galatians 5:22-23 as a family this week. Talk about which fruits of the Spirit are easier for each of you to practice, and which are harder. Then pray for each other, asking the Spirit to grow those fruits in your family.
