Welcome

How good to gather as friends in faith! Welcome to this time of praise and prayer, word and worship.

If you have children then let us serve them through our babysitting service (nursery), Children in Worship (CIW) and Little Lambs (LL). Nursery is available in the lobby for ages 0-2. Directions regarding CIW & LL kids for children ages 3 (as of March 2019) through Kindergarten will be provided during morning worship.

Noise reducing headphones are now available to borrow during the morning service at the nursery counter. If your child lives with sensory input concerns, please feel free to use them.

We offer a sensory-friendly worship area for morning services, available in the Music Room (at the end of the hallway past the offices).

Hearing Loop Headsets are available for those who are hard of hearing. Please stop by the sound booth at the back of the sanctuary to receive a headset.

News & Notes

Note from Council – Office-Bearer Nominations

Please pray for the council as the nomination process for elder and deacon begins for another year. Please pray that God challenges members regarding the importance of and need for leadership positions in our church. If you have nomination suggestions please let your fellowship elder or deacon know, contact Diane by email (office@fairwaycrc.org) or place a note in the clerk’s mail box.

Worship Participants – please read!!

ATTENTION EVERYONE that volunteers for worship positions during our worship services. We are having a meeting for everyone that volunteers in the following positions – instrumentalists, praise team members, worship leaders, and worship planners. We will meet in the GEMS room for a half hour after church on Sunday morning September 30. Questions? Please contact Rick Bouwkamp@ 616-406-5541.

Weekly Faith Formation Tip

Family Faith Formation Tip: Research shows that children are more likely to grow in faith if they have the support of at least five involved adults, in addition to family members. Who are (or who could be) your child’s “faithful five”? For more on this concept, check out The Sticky Faith Guide for Your Family (Zondervan 2014). (Faith Formation Ministries; crcna.org/FaithFormation)

CHURCH DIRECTORY UPDATE: Our church directory is scheduled to be updated in October. Please look at your current listing in the April 2018 version and email or call the office if there are any changes that need to be made.

Youth Group Scoop

This Sunday, 9/23: Sr. High ArtPrize Tour (5:30-7:30)

  • We will need backup drivers and students, able and willing, to drive. Are you and/or your child willing to help?

  • Since ArtPrize is all over the city, the worksheets I'll provide will give students the opportunity to explore a particular section of the exhibits. I'd suggest that students not venture far past their designated area, just for time's sake.

  • We'll meet back up around 6:45, at which time we'll head back to the Wendy's on Port Sheldon to swap stories about our time at ArtPrize. Plan on picking up your child there.

10/7: Jr. High ArtPrize Tour (5:30-7:30)

  • For this night to work, we'll definitely need drivers and group leaders. Would any parents be willing to join us that evening? We'll head back to the church afterwards to give kids time to discuss.

New Ministry Opportunities for Students

We have some new ways for your teenager to grow spiritually. Check some of those out below:

  • Prayer Group: Wednesday mornings, 6:15-7:00, in the youth room. Donuts, coffee, hot chocolate, etc. provided. Starts NEXT Wednesday, September 19.

  • Semester Bible Study: Students interested can reserve a copy of Immerse: Messiah, the first of six volumes in Immerse: The Bible Reading Experience and the focus of our Bible study this semester. This Bible series is uniquely arranged into a new reading format and supported by fresh "book club" conversations. Those who would rather follow along with their own Bibles can also follow the reading guide.

  • November 4 Evening Service: We've been asked by our evening service attendees to help lead worship on Sunday, November 4. Afterward, Jr. High Youth Group will resume as normal. Can your child help lead in some way? Let me know if they're interested in helping out (Jr. and Sr. High are welcome).
